More Info

Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid which occurs naturally in the body. It plays an important role in maintaining proper heart and brain function. It’s particularly abundant in electrically excitable tissues such as the heart, retina, brain, and skeletal muscle.

Taurine was first used to treat heart failure patients and demonstrated the ability to improve symptoms — as evidenced by improved cardiac output and stroke volume — which spurred research to determine whether it elicited other cardio-protective effects.

Health benefits of L-Taurine:
Maintaining proper hydration and electrolyte balance in cells
Forming bile salts that aid in digestion
Supports general function of central nervous system and eyes
Helps Regulate immune system and antioxidant function
Enhance insulin sensitivity aiding in diabetes type 2 management
Boosts exercise performance
Boosts energy levels
Benefits eye health
May benefit hearing
Neuro-protective effects
May support liver health
Taurine is called a conditionally essential amino acid, which means that in times of illness or stress, the body is unable to produce sufficient amounts to remain at optimal levels.
A healthy adult’s body can produce the minimal amount required for daily function.

Taurine deficiency can lead to:
Eye damage
Liver disease
Muscle weakening
Increased risk of developing diabetes

Taurines antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and its role in energy production, has resulted in various studies for its potential role in managing various clinical conditions and the body overall performance.
It is known to enhance athletic performance by increasing oxygen uptake by the body, reducing muscle damage, improving recovery times, and improving strength and power.
It may also enhance insulin sensitivity, thereby reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes or improving blood sugar management in those with the condition.

More recent evidence demonstrates that Taurine modestly reduces blood pressure, and it seems to be more effective in people with prehypertension or hypertension.
