Vitamin D is often referred to as the “sunshine vitamin” and is made in your skin when exposed to sunlight. Despite that, Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that promotes the absorption of calcium. Almost every cell in your body has a receptor for Vitamin D. It’s essential to many processes, including bone health, immune system function, and can help protect against cancer.

It also regulates many other cellular functions in your body. Its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and neuro-protective properties support muscle function and brain cell activity.

Vitamin D isn't naturally found in many foods, however, your body also makes Vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin (calciferol).
The amount of Vitamin D your skin makes depends on many factors, including the time of day, season, latitude and your skin pigmentation.

Significant amounts of vitamin D can also be made in your skin when exposed to UV rays from sunlight. Any excess vitamin D is stored in your body fat for later use.

Benefits of Vitamin D include:
Affects cholesterol levels
Assists in post-menopause.
Improves cardiovascular health
Reduces triglycerides
Aids in muscle movement
Assists your brains communication with the rest of your body
Healthy bones
Keeps lungs and airways healthy
Helps the body fight infections
Protects against cancer
Protects against depression
Protects against multiple sclerosis
Aids with dental and oral hygiene
Aids with Rickets
Helps clear psoriasis
Inherited bone dissorders

Depending on where you live and your lifestyle, vitamin D production might decrease or be completely absent during the winter months.
Without vitamin D your bones can become soft, thin and brittle. Insufficient vitamin D is also connected to osteoporosis

What's in it?
